Damascus Steel Knife with Dinosaur Gembone Handle
Past work, not for saleThis handcrafted knife features a Damascus steel blade paired with polished dinosaur gembone handle scales. The natural fossilized bone gives the handle a distinctive mix of color and pattern, making the material an important part of the character of the finished piece. The knife was originally sold with a sheath and is shown here as an example of past Rough Cut Lapidary work.
About Dinosaur GemboneDinosaur gembone is fossilized dinosaur bone that has been mineralized over geologic time. Much of the dinosaur bone we use comes from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation, which occurs across parts of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and surrounding areas. All dinosaur bone used by Rough Cut Lapidary is legally sourced from private land. A specific dinosaur species should not be assigned unless the specimen has documented identification.
