Damascus Steel Knife with Mammoth Tooth Handle
Past work, not for saleThis handmade knife features a Damascus steel blade paired with a beautiful mammoth tooth handle. The natural structure and color variation within the mammoth tooth give the handle a distinctive pattern that makes this knife completely one of a kind. The layered pattern of the Damascus steel complements the natural character of the mammoth tooth, bringing together handcrafted steelwork and an ancient material in a unique collector's piece. Handmade by Rough Cut Lapidary (RCL).
About Mammoth ToothMammoth tooth preserves the complex internal structure of an animal that lived during the Pleistocene. When cut and polished, the tooth can reveal distinctive bands, layers, and natural color variations that differ from piece to piece.
Because mammoths are extinct, mammoth tooth is a finite material that can never be produced again. Rough Cut Lapidary uses legally sourced mammoth tooth and retains available source information that accompanies the material.
An exact age or geographic origin should not be assigned to an individual piece unless that information is documented for the material used in the knife.
