Past work, not for saleThis brass belt buckle features a polished Montana agate centerpiece with translucent warm brown, amber, cream, and gray coloration along with fine dark natural inclusions. The polished stone highlights the depth and internal patterning characteristic of Montana agate. This piece has been sold and is preserved in the Rough Cut Lapidary gallery as an example of past work.
About Montana AgateMontana agate is a translucent variety of chalcedony best known from the Yellowstone River basin and surrounding gravel deposits in southeastern Montana. Many pieces contain distinctive dendritic, moss-like, or landscape-like inclusions. The dark branching patterns are commonly associated with manganese oxides, while red, orange, and brown coloration can result from iron oxides. Montana agate may also show banding, plumes, tubes, or other internal structures, which makes each polished piece visually unique.
