Damascus Steel Knife with Mammoth Tusk Handles
Past work, not for saleThis handcrafted knife features a Damascus steel blade paired with polished mammoth tusk handles. The mammoth tusk shows warm brown, tan, and cream tones with natural variation across the polished surface. The knife was originally sold with a sheath and is preserved here as an example of past Rough Cut Lapidary work.
About Mammoth tuskMammoth tusk is fossil or subfossil ivory from extinct mammoths. Its structure differs from mammoth tooth, which is composed of the complex layers and tissues of a molar. When cut and polished, mammoth tusk can display natural variations in color and grain. Because mammoths are extinct, mammoth tusk is a finite material. All mammoth material used by Rough Cut Lapidary is legally sourced before purchase, and we retain available source information that accompanies the material.
