Damascus Steel Knife with Dinosaur Gembone Handles and Snapping Turtle Leather Sheath

Past work, not for sale

This handcrafted knife features a Damascus steel blade paired with polished dinosaur gembone handles. The fossilized bone transitions from dark red to green coloration within the preserved bone cell structure, giving the handles a distinctive natural appearance. The included sheath features a snapping turtle leather inlay. This piece has been sold and is preserved in the Rough Cut Lapidary gallery as an example of past work.

About Dinosaur GemboneDinosaur gembone is fossilized dinosaur bone that has been mineralized over geologic time. Much of the dinosaur bone we use comes from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation, which occurs across parts of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and surrounding areas. All dinosaur bone used by Rough Cut Lapidary is legally sourced from private land. The colors visible in polished gembone occur within the preserved fossilized bone cell structure.
