Damascus Steel Knife with Dinosaur Coprolite Handles
Past work, not for saleThis handcrafted knife features a Damascus steel blade paired with polished dinosaur coprolite handle scales from the Henry Mountains of Utah. The fossil material gives the handle distinctive natural patterning and makes this an especially unusual example of lapidary material incorporated into a finished knife. The knife was originally sold with a sheath and is preserved here as an example of past Rough Cut Lapidary work.
About Dinosaur CoproliteCoprolite is fossilized feces. These fossils can preserve evidence of ancient diets and ecosystems and can become mineralized over geologic time. The dinosaur coprolite used in this knife originates from the Henry Mountains of Utah. The specific dinosaur species and exact age of this material have not been established for this piece.
