Brass Belt Buckle with Dinosaur Gembone
Past work, not for saleThis brass belt buckle features a polished dinosaur gembone centerpiece with gray, black, cream, and orange coloration visible within the fossilized bone cell structure. The dense cellular pattern is especially prominent across the polished surface. The stone measures approximately 3 by 2 inches. This piece has been sold and is preserved in the Rough Cut Lapidary gallery as an example of past work.
About Dinosaur GemboneDinosaur gembone is fossilized dinosaur bone that has been mineralized over geologic time. Much of the dinosaur bone we use comes from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation, which occurs across parts of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and surrounding areas. All dinosaur bone used by Rough Cut Lapidary is legally sourced from private land. The colors visible in polished gembone occur within the preserved fossilized bone cell structure.
